2009 Side Match Summary

Side matches open Friday 9-5, except Long Range will be from 12:00 until shooters are done. Shotgun Frenzy will be open Friday from 9:00- 11:30 and again after the main match on Saturday until 5:00. Side matches and registration office will be closed from 11:30- 12:15 to give our workers time to eat lunch.

Long Range Friday 12:15 until done.

Lever Action Pistol Caliber: 10 shots will be made off hand starting at port arms. The maximum target distance will be 100 yards. Time and misses will determine the winner.

Lever Action Rifle Caliber: The match will consist of 10 rounds shot at targets from 100- 300 yards off hand. Three sighters may be taken.

Single Shot Rifle Caliber: Smokeless and Black Powder will compete separately at the same targets. The match will consist of 10 targets with three sighters. You may shoot off hand, seated, prone or with sticks. The distance will be a maximum of 600 yards. Winners will be determined by hits.

Quigley Bucket Match: The match consists of three shots off hand with a single shot rifle. The bucket will be around 285 yards out. Time and hits will determine score. Shotgun Frenzy Friday 9:00- 11:30 & Saturday after Main Match

Each run will require 25 rounds of shot shells. You may have someone carry extra shells but you must retrieve them yourself. The first run is free. Additional runs will be for fun and cost $1.00.

Silhouette Lever Action -pistol caliber: Friday 9:00- 5:00

Cost: $5.00. Competitors will shoot off-hand from a standing position (entirely unsupported). Each competitor will engage 4 sets of 5 targets at 4 different distances. Targets must fall over to be counted as a hit. Target distances will range from 40- 100 meters

.22 shoot Friday 9:00- 5:00

One rifle & two pistols will be used to shoot something resembling a main match stage. Loaner guns will be available but it is advised to bring your own if you have them. Each run will cost $1.00. Proceeds go to SASS Scholarship Fund.

Accurate Pistol: Friday 9:00- 5:00

Using a main match pistol, try to cut a playing card in half. $1.00 per shot. Winner gets bragging rights. Proceeds go to SASS Scholarship Fund

Speed Rifle: Friday 9:00- 5:00

10 shots for $1.00. Score will be based on time & misses. Winner will get ½ the pot.

Pocket Pistol / Derringer: Friday 9:00- 5:00

Bring your own guns. These guns will use 5 shots to shoot for the best poker hand. The top poker hand for each gun will win ½ of the pot collected from that gun type. Each 5 shot hand will cost $1.00

Night Plainsman: Saturday 8:00 pm

Plainsman rules apply. Shoot 3 stages.

Team Shoot: Sunday after Main Match.

We are planning on shooting a herd of silhouettes and cutting a pole in half or whatever we happen to dream up. There will be 5 person teams chosen by a random drawing.
